Homeowners will get soaked by new flood plain designations
When a new flood insurance map for Socorro County becomes effective in 2011, almost all the approximately 4,000 buildings in the city of Socorro will be shown to be in the f“What it’s going to mean is that when this map is finally adopted, everyone will have to get flood insurance,” Mike Czosnek, Flood Plain Administrator, told the Socorro City Council on Dec. 20.

Floods Cause Homeowners to Buy Insurance
Home and business owners rebuilding from flood damage will discover their basic homeowner insurance policies will not pay for their repairs. According to the FEMA website, out of about 1.8 million living in Clark county, only 3,300 have flood insurance.
