For a lot of ‘christians’ is their ‘faith’ sort of like fire insurance on their houses?
Question by Louis P. Wu: For a lot of ‘christians’ is their ‘faith’ sort of like fire insurance on their houses?
They don’t know that their house is going to burn down, but it might, so they buy insurance. And, they don’t know that there is a ‘god’ or a ‘hell’, but in case there might be, they go to church and pray in unison with all their friends and acquaintances.

Buying fire insurance for your house is perfectly reasonable. You pay a relatively small amount to insure against a very large potential loss.
Similarly, as Pascal explained, buying fire insurance for your life comes at a fairly minimal cost of obeying Christ, which usually brings success and happiness in this life as a bonus. Rejecting the small payment owed your creator, however, can bring infinite misery in the world to come.
